TBT's Artistic Director, Ben Stevensonis literally world-renowned in the dance world, both for his past career as a dancer and his storied choreography, having created the versions of some of the most famous classical full-length ballets currently being performed around the world today, including Dracula, The Sleeping Beauty, Romeo and Juliet, Cleopatra, and Cinderella (which he originally choreographed for legendary prima ballerina Margot Fonteyn). A native Brit (but fiercely proud adopted Texan), he has been named an Officer of the British Empire (O.B.E.) by Queen Elizabeth II; received the Texas Medal of the Arts; appointed and mentored the nation's first African-American female principal in a Tier One ballet company (Lauren Anderson); and has even had a film made about his experiences during the defection of one of his dancers from China (Mao's Last Dancer).
TBT’s production of The Merry Widow will be at Bass Performance Hall on Feb. 6 - 8, with exquisite musical accompaniment by the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra.
