Directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda
PG; Japanese with English subtitles; 126 minutes

“What [Kore-eda] offers is a new way to rethink holding our grief, and the end result is a slight and wistful poem of a movie.” —Zachary Lee, TheWrap

Set in the near future, Otone Komoto (Haruko Ayase) works as an architect; her husband, Kensuke Komoto, (Daigo Yamamoto), runs a construction company. Following the death of their son, Kakeru (Rimu Kuwaki), the couple decide to welcome a humanoid robot version of Kakeru into their home. Written and directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda, whose film Like Father, Like Son earned the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival in 2013, Sheep in the Box explores the complexities of love, memory, parenting, change, and loss.
